The Marangu Route is one of the most popular and accessible routes to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Known as the "Coca-Cola Route," it is the only route that offers accommodation in mountain huts instead of camping. This trek takes you through lush rainforest, alpine deserts, and high-altitude landscapes before reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa.
Begin your trek from Marangu Gate (1,870m) through the beautiful rainforest. Look out for monkeys, birds, and tropical vegetation along the trail. Arrive at Mandara Hut for dinner and overnight.
Continue through moorland landscapes with views of Mawenzi Peak and Kibo Peak. Arrive at Horombo Hut for rest and acclimatization.
Trek across the alpine desert known as the Saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Prepare for the summit attempt.
Begin the summit climb around midnight. Reach Gilman's Point and continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Descend to Horombo Hut for overnight.
Descend through the rainforest to Marangu Gate. Receive your summit certificate before returning to Arusha.
