Overview

The Lemosho Route is one of the most scenic and rewarding routes to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Starting from the western side of the mountain, this route offers breathtaking landscapes, fewer crowds, and excellent acclimatization opportunities. The longer itinerary allows your body to adjust gradually to the altitude, increasing the chances of reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m) successfully.

The trek takes you through lush rainforest, the beautiful Shira Plateau, alpine deserts, and dramatic volcanic landscapes before joining the southern circuit toward the summit. After breakfast, transfer from Arusha to Lemosho Gate for registration and start your trek through the lush rainforest. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and possible wildlife sightings before reaching Mti Mkubwa Camp for dinner and overnight.

Continue trekking through the rainforest into the moorland zone. The trail opens up with spectacular views of Mount Kibo and the surrounding landscapes as you approach the Shira Plateau.

Explore the Shira Plateau while enjoying incredible views of Kilimanjaro's volcanic formations. Continue toward Moir Hut, a quiet camp located near the northern side of the mountain.

Trek through the alpine desert toward Lava Tower, an important acclimatization point. After spending time at higher altitude, descend to the beautiful Barranco Valley.

Start the day by climbing the famous Barranco Wall. Continue through valleys and ridges with spectacular views before arriving at Karanga Camp.

Continue through the alpine desert toward Barafu Camp, the final base camp before the summit attempt. Rest and prepare for the midnight climb.

Begin your summit attempt around midnight. Trek through the darkness toward Stella Point and continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebrating your achievement, descend to Mweka Camp.

After breakfast, descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate. Receive your summit certificate and transfer back to Arusha.
